Rather than revealing the entire surrounding landscape, the choice is made to develop, in the house, a scenario that consists several stories where each sequence present a new discovery.

Three built undulating bodies take place in the slope and stretch as slender overhanging the landscape. Interconnected by a simple entity, new spaces are made possible by the establishment of protected terraces and outdoor spaces.

The new building takes a radically different language, by contrast with its surroundings, both from the standpoint of their language and image, discrete, repetitive, as well as by the succession of volumes, with full and empty, marked by the juxtaposition of contrasting surfaces. 

The whole structure would complement the existing equipment in the city within the European Capital of Culture. 

The intentional vivid color scheme of the elevation, making the building visually surprising to the public, calls attention to the idea of the blood donation. 

The geometry is inspired by the function of the blood center, the clash of biology with technology. Rounded elements represent biology, straight represent technology. 

Shaped as an "L", it is divided in two parts - a longitudinal volume organized the service areas and the leisure zone, while the bedrooms are located in the shorter volume, transversal to the lot. An additional volume, a storage room placed in the limit of the terrain, accurately defines the central courtyard.

The interior spaces are directly associated to the patio, though protected by the porch, that externally unifies the different areas of the house as intensifies the daily experiences of the family.

The historical context of this small vacant lot located at the epicenter of Montreal student life became the primary inspiration for the urban renewal project, which lead to the exploration of an innovative concrete fabrication technique; photoengraved concrete panels that enabled the building to tell a story.

The project encapsulates an architecture ‘parlante’; an architecture that heightens the intellectual and perceptual experience of its inhabitants by stimulating active looking.
