Arquiteturas Film Festival Lisboa
2nd edition 24 to 28 September
Following the successful first edition, the Arquiteturas Film Festival Lisboa is back!
Between 24 and 28 September, the City Cinema Alvalade and the Cinemateca receive the second edition of this event that celebrates the encounter between cinema and architecture.
Directors, filmmakers, students, professionals of architecture and those interested in art and culture in general are invited to participate in this event which intends to value and improve visibility of national and international talents in contemporary architecture.
The opening party is scheduled for 18 September at the Musicbox (Cais do Sodré), with the presentation of the film "Train of Thoughts" (Austria, 2012).
The opening session on 24 September at 20:30, will be marked by the Portugal premiere of the film "Cathedrals of Culture" - a 3D project designed by six different directors, including Wim Wenders, Robert Redford and Michael Madsen.
Throughout the festival more than 90 films will be screened, some of which are selected for the different categories of the competition and will be judged by an international jury - Alexandra Areia, Marting Garber Salzberg, José Manuel Castanheira, Justin Jaeckle, Pedro Campos Costa, Edgar Martins and Rita Nunes. The public is also invited to participate by assigning the "Audience Award".
Prizes will be awarded at the closing session of the festival, on 28 September at 22:00 at Cinema City Alvalade. All winning films will be part of the Arquiteturas Film Festival 2014 national and international touring circuits.
Besides the intense program of film screenings, the event will also provide a number of activities including informal talks, theses presentations, a guided tour, master classes, Cinema, Marketing and Digital Art workshops as well as the Latitudes workshop, developed especially for children.
A site specific installation within the City Cinema Alvalade, designed by the studio Artéria, acts as meeting and socializing space for all participants as well as a stage for some of the festival activities.
