Daily Needs – City Farming
Modules for a more sustainable lifestyleImages © Studio Segers

City Farming is a growing trend, especially in large cities where there is an increased demand for organic foods, locally produced.
The concern with food quality and the impact that its production and distribution have on the environment, apart from the price, are some of the factors considered by those looking for a more sustainable lifestyle in urban environments.
Studio Segers developed a system that aims to be a paradigm shift and reduce the carbon footprint of households. The Daily Needs Modular Chicken Coop & Garden is a modular system that allows farming and raising small domestic animals in urban areas.
Winner of the Ovam Eco Design Award Pro 2013 under the category of product in development, this system allows not only growing your own vegetables in a totally organic way, but also keeping chickens or rabbits, in an organized way, from your own terrace or balcony.
In addition to raised beds for vegetables and small coops, different modules can be combined in a configuration of your choice, such as a composting bin, a tool shed or a container for collecting rain water. Consumers can select the components they want to build an organic production unit in a configuration of their own choice.
The final product is being developed from pine wood, thermally treated, and preparing to be delivered in flat packs.
