Kitchens are often the gathering room for family and guests while waiting for dinner, so they shouldn’t be unwelcoming spaces or purely dedicated to preparing meals. Besides being functional, kitchens must simultaneously be comfortable, cool and cosy spaces.

Inspiration Deco By Rita Glória
The new Inspiration Deco catalogue from Electrolux presents many original and creative ideas for decorating kitchens.
Created by interior designer Rita Glória, this catalogue aims to present Electrolux Inspiration range, featuring several decor ideas inspired in Electrolux cool appliances, inviting you to discover your kitchen style.
"As an interior designer I am constantly in contact with clients who ask me many questions regarding kitchens."
For each ambience, Rita Glória provides decorating tips, "Opt for the less obvious and use a refrigerator in a different colour from the decor! It makes all the difference ".
Your new kitchen
"I think the main problem with kitchen catalogues is that they don’t match the settings of the usual Portuguese spaces and houses, complicating the process of choosing furniture and kitchen appliances for most people”.
Therefore, the entire catalogue will illustrate the everyday kitchens. We don’t want kitchens that merely look great in catalogue, but rather real kitchens where the pasta jar is at plain sight, the wallpaper is welcome and where there’s nothing that has to be hidden."
In this catalogue, Electrolux features seven kitchens for different types of families, with original and very creative decorations:
Irreverent - A kitchen for nature lovers
Young – An ambiance young at heart
Women - Romantic getaway
Men - A space with a masculine touch
Urban - Details that make the difference
Large Family - For fun and dynamic families
Sophisticated - A kitchen as an extension of the living room
Take a chance in choosing colours
Regarding colours, I think the kitchen is a place where we should take a chance, the important is to do it in a balanced way. If you have a small kitchen, you should choose light colours for the breadth they provide. If you still want to use dark colours, choose a smaller wall or the space between the cabinets.
When we think about colours we often mean coatings. Today, everything is possible: wallpaper, patterned ceramic or washable steel panels. The major caution should be when choosing materials to place on washing areas, near the sink.
But if you want to use wallpaper, for example, you shouldn’t give up on your idea, just put a glass in front of it (ideally tempered glass for greater resistance to high temperatures from the stove).
Irreverent Kitchen
This kitchen with the green refrigerator is intended to nature lovers, people who are not afraid to take chances, because they know that their kitchen will be unique with a splash of colour that only fresh and vibrant green can provide.
This kitchen was designed with a very clean and summer look, where we have chosen to apply wooden pattern wallpaper between the cabinets, providing that cosy feeling that we only get from wood.
Young kitchen
The inspiration was the "Coca-Cola era" with all the fun that characterizes it.
In this kitchen we highlight the division between the workspace and dining area. It's an unusual setup that works perfectly.
The fridge is in the dining area and brings life to the entire decor. We are talking about a blue kitchen where the red fridge and carpet can really make a difference!
Urban kitchen
This kitchen consists mostly of neutral colours, with different shades in upper and lower cabinets, reminding that kitchens don’t have to be in a single colour.
This kitchen is for sophisticated people that prefer neutral colours, with certain details that stand out as, for example, the pendant lamp.
Large Family
This is the most colourful and dynamic kitchen. For the decoration we opted for ergonomic design pieces, easily washable and child resistant.
The walls include creative areas, where children can give free rein to their imagination, personalizing the space in a unique manner.
Sophisticated kitchen
For families who just love dark furnishings, designed a kitchen that could be an extension of the living room, where the living room furniture blend with the kitchen cabinets.
In this example, all the kitchen elements have plain colours, so the floor pattern becomes the key element of the decoration.
