Shelves

Storage solutions
By ArchReady - 12/Apr/2013

One can never have too much of storage spaces and solutions, especially in small apartments where space always seems to be smaller than necessary.

Sooner or later, there will always be a few more books, a few more objects that need storage. Using shelves is always a viable, affordable and versatile solution for any room.

Apart from the typical pieces of furniture with some horizontal divisions, there are currently countless solutions and storage systems, from the more basic shelves to unique design pieces that in addition to providing storage spaces are true pieces of art.

Shelves can be isolated and prominent pieces in space; modular parts of a composition; made to measure or integrated into architecture as part of space’s character. With more or less significance, shelves can be used for a wall covered with books, to storage day-to-day objects or to display some very special items.

You may choose for a more artistic concept, through wall modules where each can be used for a different kind of book, or even separating them by the color of their covers, creating a chromatic composition on your wall. This type of solution has the advantage of providing a gradual increase of the storage capacity, since you can increase the number of modules depending on your need.

You can use shelves to optimize irregular areas such as empty spaces under stairs, hallways or garrets, with a solution adapted to each space in the form of modules or simply taking advantage of the different geometries that these spaces provide.

Recycling objects, materials and other pieces of furniture is always an excellent idea to create unique and full of character pieces, with quite original and sometimes improbable results, suitable to any space.
