What’s Feng Shui?
Discover the benefits of this ancient art
“Teach your children that a house is only livable when there’s plenty of light and air (…).” Le Corbusier
I found rather curious these words by the architect Le Corbusier, which are also applied to Feng Shui. A home with a healthy and harmonious Chi, where there’s good energy and Chi flows smoothly, provides a more balanced life for its inhabitants. One of the advices I usually give during my Feng Shui consultations is to always have good natural light and natural plants in the places where we live and work.

There is some doubt about the meaning of Feng Shui, including the benefits of this ancient Chinese art and the results you can get with a consultation to our homes or workplaces. Then there is some confusion with the various schools of Feng Shui and their analysis, subject that I will address soon.
Feng Shui gives us instructions to improve the energy of the environment where we live and work. For eventual unpleasant situations, Feng Shui offers solutions that seek the balance between the Yin and Yang, the harmony between the five elements and the various sectors of the house.

Metaphorically, our home is our "second body". The way we treat our house has a real influence in our physical body and the events that occur in our life.
All elements in your home contribute to condition your Chi. Feng Shui’s main objective is to combine the house’s Chi with the inhabitant’s Chi.
With Feng Shui learnings we can recognize and distinguish the positive and negative energies and also increase the positive flow of Chi energy.
Feng Shui is an art that can be worked in different ways depending on the chosen school. However, they all share the basic principles: how energy moves, the Yin and Yang, the five elements (Water, Tree, Fire, Soil and Metal) and the eight trigrams.

Chi is a Chinese word with several meanings, such as vital energy, breath and vitality, Chi is the inner strengthen that lives in the human body, in plants or in buildings.
The Chi energy is transported in the atmosphere by the wind, water or solar energy, through light and sound, which in buildings occur mainly through doors and windows.

There are several types of Chi: favorable, stagnant, sharp and unfavorable.
There are several methods and analyzes according to Feng Shui schools, thus it’s important to understand and distinguish which best fits your case. By its analysis, it’s possible to evaluate and propose the necessary corrections to solve or to improve financial, health, emotional or professional problems.
