Porto’s Alfândega Congress Centre has been awarded Best Meetings and Conference Centre, Europe in the Business Destinations Travel Awards 2014. 

Recently renovated by Portuguese architect and 2011 Pritzker laureate Eduardo Souto de Moura, the building maintains its original architecture, with shapes and spaces that pleasantly surprise visitors.

The Favela Painting Project creates striking artworks in Rio de Janeiro, collaborating with local people to use art as a tool to inspire, create beauty, combat prejudice and attract attention.

This project aims to provide an opportunity for people to transform a place seen as negative into a place that communicates creativity, beauty and innovation, all through art.

The Portuguese architects Vasco Matias Correia and Patricia Ferreira de Sousa, founders of Camarim Arquitectos, have won the Tile of Spain Awards ASCER 2014 in the Architecture category with the project "Casa no Principe Real" in Lisbon.

The judges praised this project, highlighting in particular “the brilliant interpretation in the use of ceramic tiles in Lisbon’s historic quarter. The house, built on five floors, looks out onto the street boasting a new textured take on the traditional ceramic tile façade”.

Next September 30th is the deadline for application for the A’ Design Award & Competition, an international event that annually awards several works of design, architecture, art and engineering, in over 100 categories.

The main objective is to promote the practice and the work of all winning participants - architects, designers, engineers, studios and companies - providing disclosure and connecting them with key industry players.

The exhibition "Contemporary Norwegian Architecture # 7" opens next April 24 at Coimbra. This is a travelling exhibition which has toured many countries.

According to the organization, this exhibition could be "a lesson" for Portugal to use architecture as a form of export.
