Architectural rehabilitation is an area of increasing importance all over the world as it allows the preservation of cultural values, a greater environmental protection and several economic advantages when compared to new buildings.

Contribute towards a better sustainable construction was the main purpose of Artebel when developing the Freebloco®, a lightweight concrete block which allows works to become faster and with less need for power tools.

Excellent for rehabilitation, the Freebloco® makes it easy to install all sorts of electrical wiring and pipework without making debris. It eliminates the need for electrical wiring and water pipe grooves, significantly reducing the amount of waste produced while avoiding taking up space at the construction site or even on the sidewalk with solid waste disposal containers.

Designed to build simple walls, partitions or double walls, its composition in hardened expanded clay provides thermal and acoustic insulation, while allows obtaining strength and lightness, creating walls with a high stability and reducing the load on the existant building structure. Its standard dimensions and reversible laying allow it to adapt to every type of work, from reconstructions, rehabilitations or simple improvements.

Its design allows simple fractionation without resorting to power tools, maximizing the use of trimmed pieces and reducing noise. In addition to having reversible fittings on the tops of each block, ensuring a perfect planimetric alignment, Freebloco® also includes pieces with plain tops, ideal for doors, windows and corners.

For an even faster and more efficient building system with Freebloco®, the laying Box provided by Artebel allows to work faster while keeping the block’s holes clean, reducing the consumption of bedding mortar up to 80% when compared to traditional masonry .
