Tips to improve study spaces

September is the month of returning home after the holidays. We returned to our everyday tasks and routines. But we can also make some home improvements, change the decor or improve study space for our children.
With only a few pieces, some accessories and colour, we can change and improve a space. Feng Shui is mainly intended to detect and correct anomalies in the flow of energy at homes or working spaces. With the help of Feng Shui techniques we can balance and harmonize room environments for children and teenagers. An atmosphere of lightness and comfort in the room helps to provide a more peaceful and restful sleep.
In children's bedrooms, different activities such as sleep, play and study coexist. Therefore, versatility and harmony are key words when decorating these rooms.

Here are a few tips:
Organization - the room should be divided into three distinct areas: sleep, play and study. The bed should have headboard and rest against a wall. The position of the bed should allow the child to see who enters the room. Avoid shelving above the bed.
I only recommend bunk beds if the room is too small, or else opt for beds with drawers. If the room is shared by two children is preferable to have the beds side by side, with the headboards against the wall. And if possible, choose furniture with rounded corners.
The desk should be overlooking the door and be organized. Avoid placing the study table against the wall, that is, you must prevent the child from study facing the wall to keep from getting disheartened. Staying backwards the door is also not advisable.

In early September as the days are still dry you can paint your children’s room. The colours of the walls should be smooth, the most recommended are light blue, light green, pink or lilac. Red is not advisable for being too stimulating.
With walls painted in soft colour with lively paintings and a fluffy carpet is possible to create a smooth and harmonious atmosphere. Remember that bright colors in a bedroom or play corner foster creativity.
To improve an environment keep in mind that good ventilation, lighting and cleanliness are crucial.
Remove computers and TV sets from bedrooms, the magnetic radiation emitted by these devices is a factor to consider.
It's scary the number of children who have a TV set in their own room, since it isolates them from family and negatively affects their social relationships.
In many of my Feng Shui consultations, it is unusual to find a room without a TV set ... You can share your office (if you have one at home) with your children. Try keeping the computer or laptop only in the office or living room, preventing children and teenagers of isolating themselves in their rooms. And the sooner you make this option, the better...
A study table can also be shared by adults and children.
Ever thought why children enjoy doing homework at the kitchen table or at the living room? Maybe it’s because, in their bedrooms, they are often studying facing the wall and alone.

Scan your children’s closets, summer and winter clothes. Wash and pack summer clothes and make a list of clothes that your children need for next winter: sweaters, shirts, pants, skirts.
You can lend to your friends some of your children’s clothes, this will always be welcomed and these days it can be a precious help. Charities are also a good idea for delivering clothes you don’t need.
Make a selection of toys, books and school supplies for children. Store last years books in boxes and prepare for the new school year. Organize books on shelves and remove the ones your children no longer read. Always leave space on shelves and in closets, is a good rule of Feng Shui, "leaving room for new things."
Buy storage boxes, you can find a great supply with cheerful colours in several stores. So there is no excuse not to have room to store and organize school supplies or toys.
Advise children to keep their rooms tidy and their study tables organized.

September is also the right time to decorate your office and create a pleasant study area. There are lots of accessories (file boxes, folders) that ensure storage and organization. If you find it necessary, buy a new bookshelf and arrange your files and photo albums on the shelves below (past), and in the top shelves display all your books and picture frames with family photos.
If you have the opportunity, make weekly family menus, with organization and harmony you will have more time for yourself!
