Margres awards two Portuguese architects

The 1st edition of Margres Architecture Award 2013 awarded the work of the architect Miguel Borges da Costa and honored the work of the architect Gonçalo Byrne. This biennial Award highlights architectural works which have prescribed products from the collections Kerlite and / or Linea, valuing the architectural work for the quality, creativity and innovation of its projects.

Margres Architecture Award 2013 selected the work of architect Miguel Borges da Costa "Casa da Quinta de Vilar in Penafiel", applying Kerlite 1x3m in remodeling and redesign of a stone house and its implementation in a rural area.

An Honorable Mention was awarded to the renowned architect Gonçalo Byrne, with applications Kerlite Black and Kerlite White 1x3m in the floor of Liberdade Street Fashion, a commercial block in Braga.

This award was presented on May 8th, in a public ceremony at Margres Showroom in Parque das Nações, which was attended by representatives of the brand, the Award winner Miguel Borges da Costa and Inês Nunes representing Gonçalo Byrne Architects.

Intending to become a major architectural award in this country, this competition highlights from this year on, public or private works from Portuguese architects, evidencing architectural quality, revealing coherence, critical sense and innovation in the application of such products by Margres.

Kerlite and Linea were the chosen Margres collections to be the object of the submitted proposals for the competition, due to Kerlite and Linea potential for new applications, either for buildings facades, flooring or interior coatings. These revolutionary stoneware laminates also present unique advantages for the renovation market and furniture coating, featuring reduced thickness and large dimensions.

The awarded works will be exhibited publicly at Margres Showroom in Parque das Nações, Lisbon, between 8 and 15 May.
