The exhibition "Contemporary Norwegian Architecture # 7" opens next April 24 at Coimbra. This is a travelling exhibition which has toured many countries, resulting from cooperation between Royal Norwegian Embassy and the Norwegian National Museum of Art, Architecture and Design along with University of Coimbra, through the Department of Architecture, FCTUC, and the College of Arts in Coimbra.

According to the organization, this exhibition could be "a lesson" for Portugal to use architecture as a form of export.

"In recent years, Norway has managed to release to the world its architecture and transform it into an export industry" through state policies, explains architect Nuno Grande, Assistant Professor at the Department of Architecture in the Faculty of Science and Technology of the University of Coimbra. "Portugal has great architects who do their work out there merely on their own initiative. It would be important to the Portuguese Government to establish partnerships and look at architecture and its export potential."

At a time when Portuguese architecture has been recognized for its quality, achieving the most prestigious international awards, and many architects, motivated largely by the lack of work in the country, make an effort towards internationalization, hopefully this can be an inspiring example for various governmental entities.

The opening ceremony will begin at 17 hours and will be attended by Ambassador of Norway in Portugal, the Rector of the University of Coimbra and the curator of the Norwegian National Museum of Architecture, Art and Design which will make a short presentation on Norwegian Contemporary Architecture.

The exhibition can be visited at the College of Arts in Coimbra between 24 April and 23 May.
