World Architecture Day 2013
7 October 2013
The World Architecture Day is celebrated every year on the first Monday of October.
This day was established by the International Union of Architects (UIA) in 2005 to "remind the world about our collective responsibility for the future of human habitat" and is celebrated along with the United Nations World Habitat Day.
The theme chosen by the UIA to celebrate the World Day of Architecture 2013 was: "Culture - Architecture", to place these subjects at the heart of sustainable development policies, calling for a conscious use of cultural resources to face the planet's most urgent development challenges: environmental sustainability, poverty and social inclusion.

In fact, architecture is part of our daily routine so naturally that sometimes we forget to notice and realize the difference it makes in the life of every human being, from our homes, schools, hospitals, workplaces, cultural and leisure venues, to the cities we inhabit or visit.

To celebrate this day, we call to consider the role of architecture in our daily lives and how architects contribute to transform our cities into more functional and beautiful places, improving our quality of life, marking our culture and our collective identity.
Let’s enhance and contribute to the potential of architecture to improve our world.
Can you imagine our cities without architecture?
