Finalists unveiled

The winners for the ArchDaily Awards: Building of the Year 2014 have been unveiled.

More than 3,500 projects worldwide were subjected to a process of collective selection, open to all website users, where a total of 70 projects have been selected initially, 5 finalists in each of 14 categories.  Peek the winners of each category.

WAN Award

CVDB Arquitectos

Braamcamp Freire Secondary School, in Pontinha, was voted the best school building in WAN Award, presented by World Architecture News.

The building was designed by the architects Cristina Verissimo and Diogo Burnay that, under the Modernisation of Secondary Schools Programme, transformed a building composed of several pavilions in a single volume.

Rolha Side-Table

A Table With Corkscrew Legs

Gonçalo Campos, a Portuguese designer living in London, designed the prototype Rolhap Side-table, a small table cork with a peculiar form of assembly.

The gesture of opening a good bottle of wine is transposed for this purpose in the act of assembling the table legs.

This gesture reminds the mechanical characteristics of this raw material - cork is firm and stable.

The president of Real Madrid unveils winning project

The president of Real Madrid officially unveiled the project winner of the “International Tender for Architectural Ideas for the remodelling of the Santiago Bernabéu”, stating  “We want to turn the Santiago Bernabéu into the best stadium in the world, in a unique location that will be a global symbol”.
