wins the European Copper in Architecture AwardsThe winners of the European Copper in Architecture Awards were revealed at the opening of BATIMAT 2013 trade show in Paris. This international award recognises the best architectural designs incorporating copper and copper alloys.
This sixteenth iteration of the Awards generated a record 82 entries from around Europe. The Grand Jury Award was given to the Pitágoras Aquitectos architectural firm for the Platform of Arts and Creativity in Guimarães, Portugal.
Baku International Architecture Award
See the winning projectsOn November 3, 2013 was held the first edition of the International Prize for Architecture in Baku, Azerbaijan, that attracted participants and visitors from various countries, with over 300 proposals from nearly 30 countries worldwide.
Three prizes were awarded in each of the seven categories: Public buildings, Residential buildings, Interiors, Non-realised Projects, Landscape architecture, Rehabilitation and reconstruction and Publication in architecture.

A Frank Lloyd Wright’s house
From paper to reality ... 74 years later!In 1939, Frank Lloyd Wright designed a house that only now, after 74 years, was built in the campus of Florida Southern College. At the time, the house would have been designed for a teacher, but because of the Great Depression and Second World War, was not built until now.
The building emphasizes local materials and artisanal construction process, including about 2000 concrete blocks and 6000 blocks of colored glass, all handcrafted, used to build the walls of the house.
Solar Walk
A pathway that generates energyThe use of photovoltaic solar panels on roofs is something we're already familiar with. However, if we think about sun-exposed areas, which sometimes reach extremely high temperatures, the largest surfaces are pavements.
This principle led a team from The George Washington University in Virginia, USA, to create the "Solar Walk" project, the first solar energy generator pathway in the world that includes walkable solar panels.
