New Taichung City Cultural Center

SANAA presents the winning proposal

The Japanese studio SANAA, led by architects Kazuyo Sejima and Ryue Nishizawa, has won the competition to design the new Taichung City Cultural Center, in Taiwan.

The winning proposal combines multiple volumes consisting of distorted cubes involved in a translucent mesh, forming angles between them and overlaying in access areas connecting to exhibition spaces, libraries and reading areas.

Jimenez Lai

Winner of the Lisbon Triennale Début Award

Jimenez Lai, founder and director of the Bureau Spectacular, studio in Chicago, was announced as the winner of the first edition of the Lisbon Triennale Début Award Millennium BCP for young architects.

The Début Award distinguishes young architects and studios under 35 years who develop exceptional work, project practice singular and critical thinking, with the attribution of a cash prize of € 5,000.

Futurospective Arquitecture

Sou Fujimoto exhibition in Lisbon

Futurospective Arquitecture is the first monographic exhibition held in Europe by Sou Fujimoto, who gathers in CCB, Lisbon, approximately 120 models, projects, objects, materials and film from the work of this 41 years old Japanese architect, illustrating his vision of space.

To be visited in Lisbon, at the CCB South Garage, until 17 November 2013.

Close, Closer

Lisbon Architecture Triennale

Close, Closer is the name of the 3rd edition of the Lisbon Architecture Triennale which proposes to explore the future role of contemporary architecture as a wide-ranging spatial practice. 

From 12 September to 15 December 2013, a programme of exhibitions, debates, installations and events will explore architecture as an agency for the transformation and design of space. 

Aga Khan Award for Architecture in Lisbon

Shortlisted 20 projects worldwide

The ceremony of the Aga Khan Award for Architecture 2013 will be held at the Castle of S. Jorge in Lisbon, next Friday the 6th of September 2013.

The shortlist for this US$ 1 million prize range includes 20 nominees, from a modern high rise apartment block to the revival of traditional building techniques.
