11 tips to apply in 2015

Begin the year with good Feng Shui practices
By Paula Margarido, Architect Feng Shui Consultant - 12/Jan/2015

It is during the first weeks of the New Year that we define our wishlist and goals to accomplish.

The list that I drew up consists of various advice and suggestions I give to my clients and students during the Feng Shui workshops.

  1. Sleep more – is absolutely essential to have a good day's work. Try to have schedules and routines to go to bed.

  2. Drink more water – hydrating your body is very important. Drink water or tea.

  3. More exercise – if you have a very sedentary profession and you are long hours sitting, try exercising. If you can go to the gym, doing a few classes will be excellent. With yoga or gym classes your body will thank you. Also on weekends you can take a walk or ride a bike.

  4. Read more – there is always a good book waiting for you. To read develops your memory and creativity.

  5. Be more organized – if your life is more organized you will have more time for yourself and for your family.

  6. More clean & tidy – it is absolutely critical to have good Feng Shui in your home; Feng Shui considers that a clean home is a lucky home.

  7. Declutter more – it is very important to declutter by New Year time, that is, throw away what you don’t like, what is broken or not worth repairing. When cleaning and decluttering you will be doing both emotional and physical detachment.

  8. Relax more – if you have a very active and stressful professional life, be sure to stop ... and take a break. Enjoy the weekend and take an hour for yourself, go to the beach, stroll through the park or get in contact with nature. Some shiatsu therapy, therapeutic massage or ginger compresses can increase your vitality.

  9. Be more patient – sometimeswe lose too much time with bureaucracies, problems, or people who draw us energy. Try to keep calm and not stress. Positive thinking and good energy can make miracles. Be a positive light in your world, this is not Feng Shui, but it will help yourself and those around you to have a happier life and to overcome the problems.

  10. Socialize more – in a very virtual era strongly influenced by social networks, it is essential to be with friends and family. It is not enough to talk in a chat, or go out to dinner always with the phone to see the latest Facebook notifications. Enjoy and talk, go to the movies or go see some nice exhibitions, as there is always a great cultural offer.

  11. Eat healthier – Try to do "Meatless Mondays", that is, in this day of the week go for vegetarian menu. Reduce meat and eat more fish is healthier. Choose also oat or rice milk. Explore the vegetarian and macrobiotic cuisine, as there are very tasty dishes.

Happy New Year!
