Professionals related to construction, more specifically to rehabilitation operations, can now benefit from a new official reference document under the new Exceptional Regime for Urban Rehabilitation (RERU).

The "Practical Guide for the Exceptional Regime for Urban Rehabilitation" was elaborated by the various entities with expertise in areas relating with rehabilitation interventions:  LNEC (National Laboratory of Civil Engineering), IHRU (Institute for Housing and Urban Renewal), InCI (Institute for Construction and Real Estate), ANACOM (National Communications Authority) e APA (Portuguese Environment Agency).

This Practical Guide was publicly presented at the seminar on RERU, held at LNEC last July 29. Besides allowing reduction costs with projects, over the general legislation, estimated between 30 to 40%, this document is intended to provide practical examples of technical solutions for intervention, through a set of diagrams and illustrations, which are now permitted under RERU, as well as technical solutions and recommendations, which may be useful to different agents in the construction sector.

In this sense, the document is assumed to be dynamic, capable of being improved over time and open to other contributions, so all those involved in urban regeneration are invited and encouraged to participate in this process by sending their suggestions to the above mentioned entities.

The Practical Guide is available for online consultation and download here.
