MADE IN PORTUGAL
Awarded Portuguese Industrial Design
Today we are celebrating the National Production Dayand therefore we welcome the Portuguese furniture pieces that were recently distinguished or awarded internationally.
After many years in which the domestic industry was only defined by the production, the design was made by foreign brands and professionals, at the present moment we are watching a huge change. Portuguese designers are working together with producers and artisans developing innovative objects with a high quality standard, very well accepted by the international community, until now dominated by other countries with more history and tradition in the area.
We would like to highlight three furniture pieces: Becomes Me armchair, Tecla chair and Pinkit side table, all of them distinguished by The International Product Design Awards.
This prestigious award, which is part of The International Design & Architecture Awards promoted by the magazine Design et Al., every year celebrates the best design, recognizes talent, creates opportunities and offers itself as inspiration.

The armchair Becomes Me, designed by Munna, was the great winner in its category last year. This armchair, hand-made by artisans form Oporto, has a structure of solid wood, is covered by cotton satin fabric and features legs lacquered in a gloss aubergine tone. The silver studs highlight the shape of this armchair that seems to merge with whoever sits in it.

The chair Tecla, by Estúdio Tecla, received an honorable mention in the same competition. The piece has a structure of solid wood lacquered white and cork coating.
This studio refers to the importance of getting a finished product close to perfection, exactly as dreamed and planned, and this is the advice they like to share with other designers.

This year the expectation is great around the table Pinkit, by studio TwoSix. The table is made from lacquered Moisture Resistant MDF and can be customized. It’s lovingly called chameleon by being so versatile and available in various colors.
We wish Pinkit all the best for the competition!
