To commemorate the 100th anniversary of the First World War, the historic Tower of London has been transformed by an extraordinary art installation comprising thousands of red ceramic poppies surrounding this iconic monument.

This art installation titled "Blood Swept Lands and Seas of Red" was created by artist Paul Cummins and the set designer Tom Piper, and uses 888,246 poppies ceramic to create a blood-red moat around the fortress, paying tribute to soldiers who lost their lives in the First World War.

The 1st edition of Margres Architecture Award 2013 awarded the work of the architect Miguel Borges da Costa and honored the work of the architect Gonçalo Byrne. This biennial Award highlights architectural works which have prescribed products from the collections Kerlite and / or Linea, valuing the architectural work for the quality, creativity and innovation of its projects.

The idea of ​​creating the Skyline Chess came from Ian Flood and Chris Prosser, two architects based in London who decided to combine their passion for chess and architecture.

With the aim to bring architectural beauty of the city to the chessboard, the pieces were originally designed, handmade and then 3D printed, based on some of the most iconic buildings of the city of London.

Taking advantage of its expertise in designing modular systems in flat packs, the IKEA Foundation has designed a modular shelter for refugees in collaboration with the UN refugee agency.

The goal was to develop a new approach to these shelters, creating a modular system easier to ship, easier to assemble and easier to live in. The shelters are shipped in flat cardboard packs, like an IKEA shelf, and can be assembled in about four hours.

The Copenhagen and New York based group of architects BIG – Bjarke Ingels Group has recently been announced winner of the international design competition for the new Museum of the Human Body (Cité du Corps Humain) in Montpellier, France.

The new museum, a mixture of architecture and nature, will explore the human body from an artistic, scientific and societal approach through cultural activities, interactive exhibitions, performances and workshops.
