New Apple headquarters: A UFO descends
Design by Norman Foster + PartnersImages via Cupertino

A new promotional video of the new Apple Campus 2 was shown this week, exposing new informations about the impressive state of the art building.
The building is expected to house 12 thousand workers in a 176 acre area of intervention, the equivalent of 71 soccer stadiums!
80% of the area is occupied by green landscapes on both the center of the circular building and it's surrounding plot.
The objective of the building is self-sustainability and zero carbon emissions. This objective seems very plausible given the urban restructuring of the region that increased the natural presence by 350%.
The shape of the building was the first aspect that captured our eyes. This colossal flying saucer is an innovative shape that came naturally allong the project's making. It was not intended in the beginning. Norman Foster, and his partners along with Steve Jobs joined forces to work as a team with no creative limitations. This allowed for the introduction of several techniques and technologies never before seen.
Based Steve Jobs' ideas for Cupertino and the new headquarters, this sustainable and ecological design surged with it's solar pannels for energy and natural ventilation for energy conservation.
Vehicles will be banned from the complex, streets will be replaced by jogging lanes and a cycling service will be set into place. Even though it presents itself as a minimalist design, this building will have all the needs of it's workers guarenteed. The cost of this building already soared up to 5 billion dollars in the last two years. One of the reasons for this is the outstanding 6 kilometer bent glass being imported from the german company Seele GmbH, which had to double it's productive capacity to fufill this order.
Together with Facebook's new headquarters that also follows this sustainable ideology, we hope this is a trend for future constructions by all big companies. Even though this magnanimous scale isn't for everyone, these are examples that guide us into a future of ecological responsibility. A utopia brought onto reality.
